Wimberley, TX is where Wimberley Towing started, and our main yard is still on Ranch Road 12. That is the whole difference. A wrecker dispatched from Austin has to drive out here before it can begin helping you. Ours is already here.
Shawn grew up in this town. We have been pulling vehicles off these roads since 2015, and in 2024 the Hays County community voted us Best Wrecker Service in the Best of Hays awards.
The roads that produce the calls
Ranch Road 12 is the spine, and it is where most of our Wimberley work happens. Ranch Road 32, the Devil’s Backbone, runs a ridge with drop-offs on both sides, and when a vehicle leaves that road it does not stop politely at the shoulder. The county roads off FM 3237 and the caliche drives out to the ranches turn slick the moment it rains, which is how a routine drive becomes a winch job.
Cypress Creek, the Blanco River crossings, and the low water crossings around them are the other reliable source of calls. Ankle deep to moving water happens faster than people expect.
What we get called for here
- Winch-outs and ditch recovery: the single most common Wimberley call, and the reason we keep real off-road recovery gear rather than a hook and optimism.
- Roadside: dead batteries, flats, and lockouts, most of which never need a tow. See roadside assistance.
- Motorcycles: RR 12 and the Devil’s Backbone are some of the best riding in Texas, and they generate drops. Motorcycle towing uses soft straps and a chock.
- Breakdowns on the way to Austin or San Marcos: the drive out is long, and a lot of vehicles pick the middle of it.
What it costs
